1868, May 22, 22h. Northern Italy. A strong earthquake occurred in Riva (del Garda) on Lake Garda, it was accompanied by a rumble resembling the sounds of a speeding railway express. Furniture was shaken. The water in the lake rose, and
considerable waves rolled.onto the coast. There were seiches in the lake. (reference #2130)
