February 7, 1843, 7.2 S, 114 E, magnitude 6, tsunami intensity 0. At night, an unusually strong swell was observed on the south coast of Genteng Island, opposite the southeastern shore of Madura Island. The swell was such as might have been caused by an underwater earthquake. Then two new rocks were noticed, rising 0.3 m (1 foot) above the high water level. (reference #414)
