NCEI’s account, from the sources it cites.
A most remarkable phenomenon of nature occurred at Vlissingen on the 1st of August last. Shortly after the flood tide was at its highest, the water fell suddenly nearly five feet, and in a quarter of an hour suddenly rose to its former height. It continued to do so four or five times at intervals of a quarter of an hour but with diminished force. At half-past 12, the water commenced ebbing in a regular manner. The barometer was not effected. (reference #11684)
