NCEI’s account, from the sources it cites.
21st lst mo [1836]. The tide was very high at Spring Bay, so as to render crossing many places into which it flows difficult: it flowed four times in the course of the forenoon. This might arise from conflicting winds on the Pacific Ocean, or from some volcanic eruption at sea. We were favoured to accomplish the journey through Paradise without accident. (reference #7775)
