"A destructive earthquake took place in Castellaro. 52 houses were destroyed, and 49 houses became unfit for living; the arch of a parish church was split; 5 people were killed. Houses also collapsed in Bussana. Great damage was done to Taggia. The earthquake was felt in Marseille, San Remo, Genoa, Turin. A rumble was heard in San Remo accompanied by a vertical shock" (reference #2130).
