1770 Jan 11-12. […] the province of Friesland, “...this province was in great danger from a sea flood, which was so extraordinary, It is quite remarkable that the water stood level with the shore embankment, and in some places had already gone over it. Although the sea tide usually lasts three or four hours, to everyone’s great surprise, the water receded by several feet in the blink of an eye. found in the newspaper St. Petersburg Vedomosti. Listed as a definite tsunami. (reference #14362)
