EF0 tornado, Newgulf, Texas, February 23, 2016
This EF0 tornado ran 2.0 miles across Wharton County on February 23, 2016, touching down at 5:53 AM CST and reaching 30 yards wide. It killed nobody.

Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.
EF5over 200 mph
Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

- Tree Uprooted North side of CR100. A few trees also mangled south of the road near this point.
- Tree uprooted pointing perpindicular to road. Can see home in the background with minor damage to facade (consistent with EF0).
- Shed gone, interior items displanced toward the east
- Large limbs stripped, pointing toward the east.

What the Weather Service recorded
A late night through early morning storm system moved eastward out of south central Texas and across southeast Texas. The southern edge of the storms produced a weak a severe thunderstorm and a weak tornado.
This EF-0 tornado destroyed three sheds. Three residences also sustained structural damage. Irrigation equipment was damaged as the tornado crossed a grass field. Trees and power lines were downed, and parts of County Road 100 were blocked by debris.
