This EF0 tornado ran 0.1 miles across Hall County on August 6, 2011, touching down at 3:30 PM CDT and reaching 10 yards wide. It killed nobody.

The rating scale

    Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

  6. EF5over 200 mph

    Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

What the Weather Service recorded

Scattered thunderstorms developed over the southeastern Texas panhandle during the afternoon hours on the 6th. A low level circulation was stretched into a non-mesocyclonic tornado in Hall county between Estelline and Memphis along US Highway 287. No damage was reported.

Broadcast media relayed a report of a landspout tornado along US Highway 287 between Memphis and Estelline. No damage was reported.
