   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

2. EF186 to 110 mphthis tornado

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

3. EF2111 to 135 mph

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

4. EF3136 to 165 mph

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

5. EF4166 to 200 mph

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

7. Unrated

   The survey recorded a tornado but could not put a number on it, most often because it crossed open country and damaged nothing a rating can be read from.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio has confirmed an EF1 tornado in southwest Butler County, Ohio into Hamilton County, Ohio.

Although sporadic tree damage was observed at points around the center of the tornadic circulation, the tornado first caused damage in the vicinity of Dunwoody Road where powerpoles were damaged. The tornado then tracked further to the southeast, resulting in additional spotty damage before more significant damage was observed in the vicinity of Chapel Road. Numerous large trees were snapped or uprooted along Chapel Road near the intersection with Jenkins Road, with some damage to structures due to fallen trees. It is within this area that the most significant damage was confirmed, consistent with winds of 90 MPH and an EF1 tornado.

Further to the southeast toward Alert New London Road near Shandon, additional tree and minor outbuilding damage was confirmed before the tornado tracked across the county line into Hamilton County.

Sporadic tree damage occurred within a largely-inaccessible area of the Fernald Preserve, with spotty isolated damage further to the southeast. It is possible the tornado briefly lifted in the vicinity of Willey Road toward New Haven Road before more significant tree damage was observed on either side of the Great Miami River into the area of the Oak Glen Preserve.

Although sporadic tree damage was reported southeast of the Oak Glen Preserve, the nature of the damage, in conjunction with radar data, suggest the tornado had dissipated . Additional tree damage toward Dent is believed to be caused by straight-line winds.
