F0 tornado, West Milton, Ohio, July 3, 2004

This F0 tornado ran 0.1 miles across Miami County on July 3, 2004, touching down at 10:38 PM EDT and reaching 30 yards wide. It killed nobody, and did $30,000 of property damage.

The rating scale

    Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

    Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

  6. F5261 to 318 mph

    Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

  7. Unrated

A tornado briefly touched down, causing severe damage to a house with its front porch ripped away from the frame. Aluminum siding and much of the roof was peeled off the house. Five trees were uprooted.
