   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

NWS Damage Survey team confirmed a tornado occured Monday evening, 5/18/2026, beginning at 9:47 PM CDT in southwestern Ray County Missouri. This tornado caused primarily tree damage along its path, but did impact two properties, one north of Fishing River, shortly after the tornado developed. EF1 Damage to two power poles, one out building was noted, along with the roll over of an empty livestock trailer. The tornado resulted in widespread EF1 tree damage near Reynolds Road and W 108th Street. The tornado continued east-northeast, crossing highway 10 south of Elkhorn before causing tree damage north of Swanwick before crossing highway 13. The tornado ended near the intersection of Frazier Road and Millville Road at 10:06 PM CDT.

During the afternoon, evening, and late evening hours of May 18th, supercells brought severe weather to far NW Missouri. Storms eventually congealed into a large line of thunderstorms, which brought widespread damaging wind gusts to the region as well as a couple tornadoes.
