   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

3. EF2111 to 135 mph

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

4. EF3136 to 165 mph

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

5. EF4166 to 200 mph

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

   The survey recorded a tornado but could not put a number on it, most often because it crossed open country and damaged nothing a rating can be read from.

A complex weather system pushed a strong cold front into North Georgia during the afternoon of March 3rd. This front produced scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts, hail, and an isolated tornado in Gordon county.

The EF-1 tornado first touched down along Hammond Road where several trees were snapped or uprooted. The tornado continued ENE causing damage to several homes along Langston Road SE including siding and roof damage as well as destroying an outbuilding. The tornado continued ENE to the north of Hammond Road snapping and uprooting trees crossing Cash Road and through a largely wooded area until it reached|McEntyre Loop. Several trees and powerlines were snapped and a barn was nearly destroyed. The tornado continued ENE crossing Creek Ridge Dr uprooting a few trees in the area. As the tornado crossed Mt. Olive Road several trees were uprooted on a hillside to the east of the road. These were the last damage indicators found thus the tornado is presumed lifted shortly thereafter and in the area of Young-Wright Lake.

17 minutes of warning. NWS FFC issued a tornado warning for this county at 19:51 UTC, 17 minutes before the tornado touched down, in force until 20:15 UTC.

The county was under a tornado watch, issued at 16:34 UTC and running to 20:50 UTC.
