   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

3. EF2111 to 135 mph

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

4. EF3136 to 165 mph

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

5. EF4166 to 200 mph

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

7. Unrated

   The survey recorded a tornado but could not put a number on it, most often because it crossed open country and damaged nothing a rating can be read from.

A strong pre-frontal squall line crossed the local area during the afternoon and into the early evening. Despite the limited instability, strong bulk shear of 50-60 kts and a strong low level jet produced widespread wind damage as a squall line crossed the local area. Wind gusts of 45-66 mph produced widespread tree and power line damage. Three QLCS tornadoes produced damage across NE FL where better surface based instability occurred during the afternoon ahead of the squall line.

Just before 7 pm, at QLCS tornado touched down just south of I-295 in Mandarin from the shore of the St. Johns River near Tacito Trail and ended near Scott Circle East. The tornado damaged trees and caused minor damage to the roof of one home due to a tree falling on it. Another tree fell on a transformer which caused it to blow out and ignite the tree on fire. The tornado had peak winds of 105 mph.

Shortly before 7 pm on Christmas Eve, a QLCS tornado touched down just south of Baymeadows Blvd in the Baymeadows Subdivision. The tornado damaged trees. Peak winds were estimated at 105 mph.
