- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Nebraska, January 6 to 8, 2010This was the third winter storm in a month that hit eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa and was caused by an upper level disturbance that dropped out of Canada and closed off over the central plains before moving off to the east.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Nebraska, January 9 to 12, 2011Pacific moisture and warm air wrapped around a large upper level low pressure system that moved from the northern Rockies slowly southeast into the eastern Dakotas from Saturday January 8 into the morning of January 11th.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 5 to 6, 2004Bitterly cold temperatures followed a winter storm that struck parts of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa a few days prior.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 13 to 16, 2024In the evening of the 12th, a strong cold front moved southward over the area. Behind it, it brought an arctic airmass that caused -25F wind chills to occur early in the morning of the 13th. This airmass remained until the 16th, as did cold temperatures and wind chills.
- Cold in Nebraska, February 16, 2025A deepening low over the Ohio River Valley led to strengthening northwesterly flow in eastern Nebraska, allowing very cold air to sink southward into the area. Temperatures fell into the single digits above and below 0 with wind chill values of -10 to -20 owing to 20 mph winds.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 31, 1996As temperatures approached 20 degrees below zero, a water main froze and burst damaging several hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of furniture in a furniture showroom.
- Blizzard and High Wind in Nebraska, December 11 to 12, 2010Blizzard conditions developed over eastern Nebraska and adjacent portions of South Dakota and Iowa on Dec. 11 as an upper level low pressure developed rapidly over eastern Nebraska during the very early morning hours of that day.

- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Nebraska, February 1 to 2, 2011A large upper level system dropped southeast from the northern Rockies and then split into two pieces, one tracked across the central plains while the other drifted southwest across the southwestern U.S.
- Cold in Nebraska, February 1 to 4, 1996Arctic high pressure dominated the weather over much of the central United States. Sub-zero temperatures were reported at Omaha for 63 consecutive hours from early February 1st through February 4th.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Nebraska, December 14 to 15, 2008An Arctic cold front pushed across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa during the early morning hours of December 14th.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Nebraska, December 20 to 21, 2008An upper level disturbance tracking across the northern plains brought a period of snow to eastern Nebraska and western Iowa followed by an Arctic cold front which brought plunging temperatures and gusty winds.
- Cold in Nebraska, June 4 to 5, 1998A very unusual post-Memorial Day frost and freeze left its mark on crops across a small part of south-central Nebraska. The most concentrated area of damaged fields stretched along the Republican River from Red Cloud to Cambridge.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 17 to 19, 1996A blast of Arctic air invaded eastern Nebraska during the afternoon of the 17th. The day started out with dense fog and temperatures around freezing.
- Cold in Nebraska, December 18 to 19, 1996Strong northwest winds combined with cold temperatures to produce wind chills of 30 to 50 below zero.
- Cold in Nebraska, May 13, 1997A record breaking late season cold snap generated the latest spring freeze on record over portions of eastern Nebraska as temperatures dipped into the 26-32F degree range. Some minor crop and fruit tree damage resulted from the cold temperatures.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 2 to 4, 1999A prolonged surge of Arctic air plunged south across eastern Nebraska on January 2 and continued through midday January 4. Temperatures slowly fell through the period, eventually ending up 5 below to 15 below zero during the morning hours January 4.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 27, 2004Extremely cold wind chills were observed over all of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa on the heels of the prolonged winter storm that dropped between 6 and 15 inches of snow across most of the region.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 28, 2004The second night in a row of extremely cold wind chill values were observed across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa as a another surge of Arctic air spilled south across the region.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 22 to 23, 2014Arctic high pressure built down across the central plains on January 22nd and 23rd. The high brought northwest winds of winds of 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts to the region.
- Cold in Nebraska, February 4 to 5, 2014Arctic high pressure pushed into the mid Missouri River Valley on February 5th behind a strong storm system that moved across the central Plains.
- Cold in Nebraska, January 7, 2015Arctic high pressure, associated with record or near record surface pressure, settled into the mid Missouri River Valley during the early morning on the 7th.
- Cold in Nebraska, February 13 to 14, 2007Arctic air spread south across eastern Nebraska after a snowstorm left 3 to 7 inches of snow over the region late on the 12th into the 13th. Initially winds gusted over 30 mph causing areas of blowing and drifting snow which shut many rural schools.
- Winter Storm and Cold in Nebraska, January 22 to 23, 2011An upper level disturbance dropped southeast across Nebraska during the afternoon and evening of Jan. 22. This caused low pressure to develop over eastern Kansas with an inverted surface trough extending north into eastern Nebraska.
- Cold in Nebraska, December 16 to 19, 1996Arctic air dropped south across South Central Nebraska aboard 30 mph north winds. Wind chill values plunged to between 30 and 50 below zero. With such bitter cold wind chills, several schools were closed with many extracurricular activities cancelled or postponed.
