Ranked by deaths, injuries, damage and size together.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, August 1 to 4, 2010A four day stretch of extreme temperatures occurred across the region to start off the month of August. High pressure was firmly entrenched across the southeast and allowed temperatures to soar into the triple digits across much of the region.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 1 to 5, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure further intensified over the Mid-South continuing from the end of July into the beginning of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, July 30, 2010Several days of temperatures near 100 degrees contributed to two deaths from heat stroke in the Gulfport area.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, June 12 to 18, 2022A large upper ridge prevailed across the region from mid-June through the end of the month resulting in very hot and humid conditions across the Mid-South. The heat was most intense on June 12th and 13th.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, August 5 to 25, 2007A severe heat wave brought high temperatures near or above the 100 degree mark during most of the month of August. The unusually warm temperatures combined with high dew points produced heat index values of 105 degrees or greater during the heat wave.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, August 11 to 12, 2023In the midst of a prolonged heat wave affecting the region, dangerous heat and humidity caused a fatality in southeast Mississippi on August 11th.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, August 2, 2010Hot and humid conditions produced heat index values between 110 and 115 degrees over coastal Mississippi.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, July 21, 2023In the midst of a prolonged heat wave, the combination of dangerous heat and humidity resulted in a fatality in northeastern Mississippi.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 16 to 19, 2025A strong, stationary heat dome brought oppressive heat to the Mid-South in mid to late August. The region was fed by warm, moist air from the Gulf, which elevated dewpoints and thus made heat-index values much higher than the actual air temperature alone.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 11 to 14, 2023Another heat wave impacted the region as the result of a building ridge over east Texas and Louisiana. Heat index values reached or exceeded 105 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 29 to 31, 2025Oppressive heat continued to plague the Mid-South as an intense ridge retrograded across the Lower Mississippi Valley. Highs ranged from the upper 90s to the lower 100s. Dewpoints across the region soared into the upper 70s and low 80s.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 18 to 21, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that dominated the weather across the southwest US during the summer of 2023 pushed east into the Mid-South toward the middle of July.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, June 25 to 30, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that has dominated the weather across the southwest US pushed east into the Mid-South toward the end of June. High temperatures combined with high humidity produced heat index values over 105 degrees and in some cases over 110 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 2 to 7, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that dominated the weather across the southwest US during the summer of 2023 bulged east into the Mid-South at times during the month of August.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 19 to 22, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure remained over the Mid-South during the middle to latter part of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, June 28 to 30, 2024Moisture surged into the region while a strong upper ridge prevailed over the ArkLaTex region. Surface dewpoints climbed into the low to middle 70s while high temperatures rose into the lower to middle 90s resulting in high heat indices.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 20 to 26, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that dominated the weather across the southwest US during the summer of 2023 bulged east into the Mid-South at times during the month of August.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 8 to 15, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure further intensified over the Mid-South continuing into the middle of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 4 to 9, 2022Upper-level high pressure strengthened over the region. Hot and humid conditions developed in early July and continued for much of the month.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 1 to 2, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that had dominated the weather across the southwest US pushed east into the Mid-South toward the end of June and continued into early July.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, July 3 to 4, 2024A strong upper ridge ridge covered the southern U.S. during early July. Meanwhile, moisture surged northward into the Mid-South ahead of an approaching cold front. Dewpoints climbed well into the 70s and afternoon heat index values topped 110 degrees across the Mid-South.
- Excessive Heat in Mississippi, July 30 to 31, 2024A strong upper-level high-pressure system covered the Lower Mississippi Valley at the end of July. Persistent moist southwest flow brought high dewpoints into the region.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, August 15 to 16, 2024An intensifying ridge was centered just to the southwest of the region while strong moisture return resulted in dewpoints climbing into the mid-70s to around 80 degrees. High dewpoints combined with hot air temperatures resulted in dangerous heat indices as high as 114 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 23 to 25, 2025A strong ridge remained centered over the mid and lower Mississippi River Valley and continued to bring oppressive heat to the region. Daytime heat indices exceeded 105 degrees nearly areawide, with some areas exceeding 110 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Mississippi, July 21 to 28, 2022Upper-level high pressure continued over the region. Hot and humid conditions prevailed for much of the month.
