Ranked by deaths, injuries, damage and size together.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, August 25 to 29, 2013A large ridge of high pressure built across the central part of the United States during the last week of August.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 3 to 6, 2012A large ridge of high pressure built across the Upper Midwest during the first week of July. This resulted in a combination of high humidity levels and temperatures, leading to three heat-related deaths, all in Hennepin County.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 18 to 20, 2011A large ridge of high pressure expanded across the Upper Midwest and allowed for a stagnant pattern, and eventually oppressive heat and humidity to develop. The heat wave broke records for temperature and dew point, and even heat indices across the region.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, August 9, 2021Twin 3-year-old boys went missing the afternoon of Monday the 9th in to city of Hibbing. Police were dispatched around 5:30PM to search for the boys who were found an hour later in a locked vehicle near their residence.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 17 to 20, 2011Warm and humid air invaded southeast Minnesota on July 17th and remained in place for the next three days. During this stretch, afternoon heat indices routinely topped out between 110 and 120. Little relief occurred at night, as overnight lows remained in the 70s.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 15 to 20, 2011Several consecutive days were experienced with an extremely stressful combination of high heat and humidity. Heat indices frequently rose above 115 degrees during the day, with temperatures reaching the 90s and dew points remaining in the 70s to lower 80s.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 20 to 22, 2016A large dome of high pressure that was centered across the mid section of the nation the week of July 18th, caused temperatures to rise into the 80s and 90s across the state.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, June 19 to 20, 2022A dome of high pressure built across the Upper Midwest during the late weekend of June 19th. Heat indices surpassed 100 degrees in several areas of the Twin Cities, and across west central Minnesota where the index approached 105 degrees for several hours on Sunday.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, August 22 to 23, 2023Excessive Heat occurred through much of Central and Southern MN through the afternoon of August 22nd, 2023. A warm front stalled over the region which allowed for a continued supply of warm moist air into the region.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, August 2, 2022This heat event was more pronounced than the previous one in June. Dew points pooled ahead of a frontal boundary Tuesday afternoon, August 2nd.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 27, 2023Surface temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90's combined with dew points in the 70s and lower 80s allowed for apparent temperatures, or the heat index, to exceed 105 F in rural MN counties and 100 F for multiple hours in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 16 to 20, 2011A very unusual period of hot and humid weather settled over the northern plains. An upper level ridge set up across the nation's midsection, with thunderstorms firing almost continuously around the fringes of the ridge.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Minnesota, August 25 to 26, 2024A strong ridge of high pressure locked in very warm and extremely humid conditions. Dew points in the upper 70s and lower 80s combined with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s to produce daily heat index values from 100 to 120 degrees.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 20, 2016Afternoon temperatures in the low 90s combined with dew points in the mid 70s to produce heat indices just above 105.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, June 27, 2012A combination of high heat and humidity, with temperatures reaching the 90s and dew points in the 70s, pushed the heat index to a little above 100 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours of June 27th over southwest Minnesota.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 2 to 6, 2012A combination of high heat and humidity persisted for several days. Daytime temperatures reached the 90s to just above 100, and dew points were in the 70s. The heat index went as high as 110 degrees.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 16, 2012A combination of high heat and humidity consisted of daytime temperatures reaching the 90s, and dew points in the 70s. The heat index went as high as 105 degrees.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, June 10 to 12, 2016Rapidly developing very hot and humid weather, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s, brought the heat index to 100 or a little hotter during the afternoon hours of June 10th through June 12th.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, July 20 to 22, 2016Very hot and very humid weather, with daytime temperatures reaching the 90s, brought the heat index to 100 to 110 degrees during the afternoon hours of July 20th through July 22nd.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Minnesota, July 20, 2016Very warm air in the 80s and lower 90s, combined with dew point temperatures in the low 70s to around 80 degrees, resulted in widespread heat indices of 95 to 105 degrees across parts of east central Minnesota on July 20th.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Minnesota, June 29, 2019Oppressive temperatures in the mid 90's to around 100 degrees along with dew point readings in the mid to upper 70's produced very dangerous heat conditions with heat index readings in excess of 105 degrees for much of the afternoon and early evening.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Minnesota, August 19, 2023An expanding upper-level ridge across the southern and central U.S. pushed heat into the region, as moisture pooled just ahead of an advancing frontal zone. The combination of heat and higher dewpoints resulted in afternoon and early evening heat indices from 100 to 115 degrees.
- Excessive Heat in Minnesota, August 21 to 24, 2023An immense ridge of high pressure over the Central Plains and Mississippi Valley entrenched heat and high dewpoint air across the region, resulting in daily heat indices from 100 to around 120, with very little recover during the overnight hours.
