- Winter Weather in Kentucky, December 23, 2008Light freezing rain developed during the afternoon of December 23rd. Ice accumulation on roads across the northern portions of Kentucky lead to numerous traffic accidents and several fatalities.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 2, 2014For a few hours during the early morning hours of January 2, 2014, light freezing rain created a coating of ice on numerous roadways around eastern Kentucky.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 30, 2024Early morning on the 30th a frontal passage approached Northwest Kentucky from the northwest. Southerly winds around 5-10 mph ahead of the front tended to lift temperatures above freezing ahead of the fronts' approach in locations further west.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Kentucky, December 22 to 24, 2022A powerful cold front swept through the region, with wind chills dropping to 20 to 30 below zero. These were the coldest wind chills observed in over 25 years across the region. Paducah, KY dropped down to a -21 wind chill, which was the coldest since February 3, 1996.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, December 2, 2024A weak clipper system caused a brief period of light snow during the afternoon hours on the 2nd. Temperatures had initially been around 32 degrees, but dropped into the 20s later that day and evening.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, December 23, 2008Widespread freezing rain coated surfaces with up to one-tenth inch of ice. Due to very cold antecedent conditions, pavement temperatures were low enough that the initial drops of precipitation immediately created hazardous conditions.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 7, 2020Following abundant rainfall across southeast Kentucky on February 6th, colder air filtered into eastern Kentucky from February 6th into the 7th. Simultaneously, another wave of precipitation moved through the region, bringing a transition to snow for much of eastern Kentucky.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 15, 2015Across most of western Kentucky, one to two inches of snow fell during the morning hours. Lesser amounts of one-half inch or less occurred along the Tennessee border from Murray to Hopkinsville. The snow fell in bands oriented from west to east.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 23 to 24, 2022Widespread sleet and freezing rain occurred during the evening of the 23rd, followed by some patchy freezing drizzle or light rain overnight. A heavier round of precipitation on the 24th had little if any impact due to temperatures inching just above freezing.

- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Kentucky, November 26 to 28, 2013A rare November winter storm moved through the coal fields on November 26 and 27. Rain chanced to snow during the evening of November 26th and the snow continued through the day on the 27th before tapering off during the evening.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, January 26, 2011On January 25th, a strong low pressure system developed along the Gulf coast and then tracked northeast up the east coast. The temperatures across eastern Kentucky were slightly too warm so the precipitation was rain before a change over to snow.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 20, 2011An upper level disturbance moved east across the Plains to the Mississippi Valley. The associated surface low pressure system gradually took shape over eastern Kentucky. Widespread snowfall from 2 to 4 inches blanketed most of western Kentucky.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 25 to 26, 2011An upper level storm system moved from western Arkansas across Tennessee. Moisture spread northward from the system, starting as light rain or mixed rain and snow in places south and east of Paducah.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, November 10, 2025A deep upper level low dropped south into the Ohio Valley, bringing strong cold air advection and a healthy moisture plume off the Great Lakes.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 7, 2020A band of precipitation developed across the Tennessee Valley late on January 6th and moved into southeast Kentucky overnight into the 7th.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 9 to 10, 2011A large area of snow occurred along and to the east of a well-defined surface low pressure trough. East of the surface trough, northeasterly surface winds kept cold air in place. Warmer air moving in aloft created conditions favorable for heavy snow.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 5 to 6, 2017A clipper type system brought widespread snowfall to eastern Kentucky on the 5th and 6th. Snow started on the morning of the 5th, and tapered off just after midnight early on the 6th. Widespread light snow occurred throughout the event, with several bands of moderate snow.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 23 to 24, 2015Accumulating snowfall occurred across portions of eastern Kentucky from late in the evening of January 23rd through the early morning hours of January 24th. The highest snowfall totals generally occurred along and north of I-64, where up to five inches fell in Fleming County.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, December 5, 2009Light snow fell across the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky. Snowfall accumulations totaled less than one half of an inch. However, slick roads contributed to an automobile accident that caused one fatality.
- Winter Weather in Kentucky, November 22, 2014A warm front passed over the Ohio Valley. Due to a very cold ground, the rain showers in the wake of this warm front created a slushy layer of ice on road surfaces. While temperature sensors climbed above freezing in most locations, the rain still froze on area roadways.
- Cold and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 6 to 7, 2014An arctic cold front barreled across eastern Kentucky late Sunday January 5th ushering in what would be the coldest temperatures and wind chills experienced in 20 years. Gusty winds up to 50 mph along the front created a few isolated power outages.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 5, 2017An area of light snow developed early this morning, bringing widespread accumulations of 1-3 inches across eastern Kentucky through the day. A couple of more intense bands developed during the morning hours.

- Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 6, 2014A woman died in a car crash during the predawn hours of Thursday, February 6th, 2014 when the SUV she was driving hit a patch of ice around the 6 mile marker of Hwy 476 in the Clayhole community. Her car struck a tree and went into the creek that runs along the road there.
