With northeasterly low-level flow in place today, seabreeze
activity has been largely confined to the Panhandle, and mostly
along and south of I-10. The activity may linger for another hour
or so, so have adjusted PoPs a bit into the evening hours, but
overall forecast is in good shape for the rest of the overnight
hours.

.NEAR TERM...
(Through Wednesday)

Fairly benign weather is expected through most of the near term with
large scale subsidence still in place. At the tail-end of the near
term a complex system looks to approach the FL Peninsula from the
Atlantic via inverted trough rounding the base of the ridge to our
north. SBCAPE across the western half of the area looks to be around
2500-3500 J/kg tomorrow, however MLCAPE looks to be mostly capped,
given the proximity to the ridge. MLCAPE will be around 1500-2500
J/kg so any storms that do get through the inhibition with the aid
of additional forcing from the inverted trough may turn severe with
wind and hail being the primary threats. The SPC currently has most
of the region under a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather
tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Expect daytime highs generally in the mid to upper 90s with
overnight lows generally in the mid to upper 70s. Remember to stay
hydrated, stay in a cool place during peak heating hours and check
in on vulnerable people and pets.

.SHORT TERM...
(Wednesday night through Thursday night)

The dominant H5 ridge centered over the Mid-Atlantic that has
controlled the large scale pattern as of late will finally degrade
and push north on Thursday. At the same time, an upper-level low
will be nudging westward across the Florida peninsula. In the
absence of large scale subsidence from the now removed ridge, and
with favorable upper-level support from the upper level low, rain
chances will be elevated. Mid-level lapse rates will be above
average once more at > 6C/km with the upper-level low overhead,
allowing for the development of robust instability in the range of
2000-4000 J/kg. Deep layer shear, however, will be comparatively
less than Wednesday. Sustained and organized storms are therefore
unlikely, with the greatest threat being isolated damaging winds and
small hail. For now, the Storm Prediction Center has placed all but
the extreme southeastern portions of the CWA in a Marginal (level 1
of 5) risk for severe weather Thursday.

Thursday also sees a "relief" in daytime high temperatures due to
the ridge breaking down and more coverage of convective activity,
although temperatures will still reach the lower-mid 90s.

(Friday through Monday)

A typical summertime pattern sets in Friday and remains through the
weekend and into early next week. Daily afternoon shower and
thunderstorm activity can be expected with the greatest
concentrations from the Florida state line southward and at or along
the seabreeze front. As a result of the increased convective
activity, daily high temperatures will lower down to mostly seasonal
values in the low 90s, with daily low temperatures in the mid 70s.

A few TSRA are ongoing invof ECP this evening, but should fade in
the next couple hours. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected
during the period. After 18z, TSRA should begin to develop and
move generally W/SW across the terminals. The environment is very
favorable for strong, gusty, erratic winds in TSRA. Thus, have
included prevailing VCTS at all but ABY and VLD with PROB30s at
all sites for TSRA and gusts up to 30 kt.

A weak pressure gradient in place through Thursday will favor
northwest winds during the overnight hours becoming southwest in the
afternoons, generally less than 10 knots. Thursday night, southwest
winds become more firmly established through the weekend. Daily
diurnal showers and thunderstorms can be expected for the next
several days, mainly in the overnight and early morning hours. The
exception may be Wednesday and Thursday, when strong to severe
thunderstorms may drive toward the coast from the late afternoon
into the evening hours, with briefly higher winds and seas
possible.

Fire weather thresholds remain above critical values over the next
few days. A complex system moves across the region tomorrow
afternoon leading to widespread showers and thunderstorms. This will
lead to erratic winds and abundant lightning.

Through the week, scattered showers and thunderstorms are
expected to increase in coverage. As PWATs increase, it won't be
surprising for a few storms to result in heavy downpours. Isolated
flash flooding may occur in low-lying areas or poor drainage.
However, widespread flooding is not expected. Our rivers are in
good condition so, riverine flooding is not expected.
