Thunderstorms impacted Middle Tennessee on August 29, 2024. While these were non-severe, they did produce gusty winds. One particular thunderstorm in Williamson County snapped a few trees near College Grove.

(Rest of today through Saturday) Issued at 1156 AM CDT Thu Aug 29 2024 Another very hot day in place across the mid state. 10 AM temperatures are already in the 85-90 degree range. The temp at Nashville is 90F and that is 1 degree cooler than 24 hrs ago. However, the dewpoint is about 3F higher so we are contending with some increase in humidity. Still looking at 101F for an expected high today for Nashville. The record is 100F so stand by for that. For the forecast, we are looking at a couple of southward moving frontal boundaries. With the ongoing increase in humidity, some afternoon convective development will be possible beginning this afternoon. Though coverage will be rather low, we will see increasing chances in the days to come. In fact, the best chances will be on Saturday and Sunday with those aforementioned boundaries. Not looking at any severe potential as shear levels look low and capes are somewhat held in check as well. Otherwise, look for average qpf amounts of around 1/2" through Sunday. For the near term temps, after todays scorching triple digit returns, we will undergo a much appreciated slight cooling trend. By Saturday, only lower 90s for highs as the clouds and precip coverage ramps up. Overnight lows will hold in the lower 70s. && .LONG TERM... Convection should generally stay to our south where the boundary tires to hang up. We may need to hang on to some slight pops as humidity levels drop just slightly. For the extended temps, values cool to seasonal levels with highs upper 80s and lows upper 60s. As for any tropical potential. There is a disturbance in the central Atlantic at this time. Euro and GFS are both showing that this area could hold together and perhaps make it into the Caribbean in about 8-10 days. && .AVIATION...
