Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 147 PM EDT Sat Jun 13 2020 .DISCUSSION... Overnight and during the morning hours a weak upper level disturbance was slowly drifting south causing some light to moderate showers around Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Most of that original shower activity is now gone. However, you can watch on satellite this morning how the leftover clouds and moisture associated with the trough is already starting to produce shower activity south of I-4. High res models handled this well and highlighted areas south of I-4 with high rain shower chances today. For areas north of I-4 we should see more typical summer time thunderstorm activity day. As we go into our Sunday moisture starts to increase slightly which should help in the development of showers and thunderstorm activity in the afternoon and evening hours. Most locations tomorrow will see either 50 or 60 PoPs in the forecast. This trend will continue into the early parts of next week. An upper level trough will push into the southeast over the later half of the week. This will actually help to bring us slightly drier air for the end of next work week with PoPs staying in the 30 to 40 percent category at most. && .AVIATION... Increasing moisture and instability at our southern TAF sites will call for TSRA for much of the afternoon and early evening hours. However, our northern TAF sites are expected to be slightly drier with VCTS in the TAFs. VFR conditions will persist for much of the day unless thunderstorms move over teh TAF sites where brief MVFR and IFR conditions will be possible. && .MARINE... Conditions looking pretty nice for boaters for much of the next 7 days. Winds will remain mainly from an easterly direction over the next few days with winds saying mainly below 10 knots. However, the big concern will be avoiding the afternoon and evening shower and thunderstorm activity. The main concern will be Sunday through Wednesday. Right now the conditions favor the scattered showers and storms forming inland before heading out to sea in the late afternoon and evening hours. && .FIRE WEATHER... A moist air mass continues into early next week then gives way to slightly direr air with lower shower/storms chances for midweek. Moisture will still be adequate to preclude any low relative humidity concerns. && .Preliminary Point Temps/PoPs...
