Surface winds will remain generally VRB-light E 5 knots or less until 15z Tuesday, before becoming SE 5-8 knots after 18z Tuesday. 05/ && .SHORT TERM... /Issued 227 PM CDT Mon Sep 2 2019/ /Tonight/ Isolated showers and storms across the west/southwest zones this afternoon will dissipate by sunset, leaving a mostly clear sky across the entire region. Lows tonight will be in the lower and middle 70s, except for some upper 60s across the southwest zones. Some patchy fog may develop toward sunrise due to the clear sky and a light east/southeast wind, especially in locations that saw appreciable rainfall last week. Only minor visibility restrictions (around 5 miles) are expected. 79 && .LONG TERM... /Issued 227 PM CDT Mon Sep 2 2019/ /Tuesday through the Weekend/ A mid/upper ridge centered over the Rockies will expand east and southeast across the Southern Plains over the next few days and remain dominant across North and Central Texas through the end of the week. Though the days are getting shorter, insolation combined with 595 DAM 500 MB heights will be sufficient to bring a return to triple digit heat for the second half of the week across parts of the CWA. The current forecast will indicate the hottest conditions occurring on Friday when a surface low develops lee of the Rockies and causes the low level flow to veer to the southwest. Friday high temperatures of 100 to 103 will become possible for most of the area, with the exception being the northeast counties where upper 90s are more likely. That said, each day from Thursday through Saturday should see temperatures near 10 degrees above normal, and we will need to monitor temp/dewpoint trends as we approach mid week for the possibility of adding a heat advisory for some of the area. The ridge will weaken over the upcoming weekend as a shortwave works its way across the Central part of the CONUS. This may knock temperatures down a few degrees, but any ascent associated with this disturbance appears too meager to generate any decent chances for precipitation.
