The Tie Canyon Fire was detected on August 22nd at 6 pm and was located in between Swan Valley and Victor. The fire grew to 1,014 acres. No mandatory evacuations were ordered. Level one evacuation notices were in effect for residents and property owners south of 10000 South, east of HIghway 31, west of 1000 West (Pole Canyon Road) and west of Highway 31, south of 9000 South. Tie Canyon Road 252 and Upper Rainey Creek Road 253 were closed. black Grove Trail 047, Power Line Trail 321, and Blanchard Ridge sTrail 014 were closed by the United States Forest Service. The fire was considered 100 percent contained by September 5th.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Wednesday.
Strong cold front has moved through eastern Idaho today with
breezy conditions and many Red Flag Warnings in effect. A lake
wind advisory remains in effect for American Falls Reservoir until
9 pm as well for 20 mph winds. No precipiation is expected through
Wednesday. Below normal high temperatures are also expected
through Wednesday with cooler conditions behind the front. The
next chance for thunderstorms will be Wednesday mainly in the
central mountains and Upper Snake Highlands as an upper trof
slides south.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday night through Monday. Broad trough in place
over the Great Basin through Friday. Reinforcing shortwave Wednesday
night and Thursday should be enough to fire convection along Divide
region but remainder of region stays dry and cool. Deeper low drops
into BC and Alberta Canada late Friday through the weekend,
strengthening trough over the West and increasing southerly
component into East Idaho. Some disagreement still between GFS and
ECMWF regarding moisture availability into the region for the
weekend so have kept precip chances around or below climo. Trough
and moisture shift east by late Sunday with drier southerly flow and
ridge conditions ahead of next Pacific trough for early in the week.

.AVIATION...Breezy and gusty winds throughout East Idaho this
afternoon and early evening. Winds decrease overnight and then
return again during the day Tuesday. VFR conditions throughout. DMH

.FIRE WEATHER...The cold front has moved through the state of
Idaho with strong winds and very low humidity in its wake behind
it. Red Flag Warnings remain in effect for everyone except zone
427 until 9 pm this evening. Winds should die down overnight and
increase again Tuesday afternoon. Could approach Red Flag
conditions mainly in zones 425 and 410 again but am not expecting
widespread conditions so for now have no watch or warnings out.
Winds will not be as strong as today. Next event will be the
chance for isolated thunderstorms Wednesday into Friday mainly for
zones 475...476...422...410 and 411. Temperatures will be much
cooler through Thursday.
