A broken line of strong to severe thunderstorms developed during the midday hours over north central Alabama. The line filled in as it moved east across the remainder of northeast Alabama. Trees were knocked down in a couple locations in Madison County. Lightning also struck at least two homes.

FOR 18Z TAFS && .DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 1054 AM CDT MON AUG 10 2015/ DESPITE THE CLOUD COVER...TEMPS THIS MORNING ARE ABOVE YESTERDAYS TREND WITH MOST LOCATIONS CURRENTLY IN THE LOW/MID 80S. VIS SATELLITE SHOWS A VAST CLOUD SHIELD WITH THE MCS MOVING INTO NW AL. MOISTURE TRANSPORT WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL RAISE PWATS TOWARDS 2 INCHES BY THIS AFTERNOON. WITH THIS MOISTURE...RAISED DEWPOINTS A LITTLE BIT AND AN INCREASE HAS ALREADY BEGUN. CLOUD COVER WILL HAVE A HAMPER ON TEMPS ESPECIALLY IN NW AL...BUT EVEN WITH CLOUDS MOVING IN ACROSS THE CWA...SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM REACHING THE UPPER 80S TO LOW 90S TODAY. A light pole was blown down on Shamrock Drive and a tree was downed by thunderstorm winds onto a house on Windover drive from a few miles northwest to just southeast of Huntsville, Alabama.
A strong thunderstorm moved through the Short creek area of Lake Guntersville, Alabama, capsizing a canoe, resulting in two drownings. Time was estimated by news article.
Thunderstorm winds produced roof damage to an RV with a couple of two-by-fours protruding through the roof into the RV. The rear part of a nearby barn roof was blown off with a partial collapse of the roof on the front portion of the barn, occurring along Highway 31 near Falkville, Alabama. There was also a tree downed and some tin pulled off a shed roof near Falkville, Alabama in the vicinity of Mile marker 322 on Interstate 65.
