Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
July was another abnormally dry month with no local observation sites receiving more than an inch of rain. Drought conditions worsened across the Fort Worth County Warning Area (CWA) and by the end of the month all but 6 of the 46 counties were classified in severe drought (D2) or worse according to the US Drought Monitor. Half of the 46 counties, mainly located in the western and southern areas of the CWA, were classified in exceptional drought (D4). At the end of the month, burn bans were in effect for all but one county. Most of the area lakes continued to suffer and water levels continued to drop well below conservation levels, with some lakes more than 10 feet below normal values. The low lake levels caused many cities to implement water restrictions on residents. The agriculture community also continued to experience detrimental conditions. Hay production was nearly halted with most farmers only producing a small fraction of what is produced in a normal season. Hay prices were up to $90 a bale, which is almost double the normal price. Many cattle farmers had to sell their cows early because of the scarcity of grasses and hay. Corn farmers also witnessed poor corn production and had to try to grow other crops to salvage their growing season. The drought has also caused trees to suffer, with many trees dying or toppling due to weakened roots from little rainfall.

VFR CONDITIONS EXPECTED THROUGH THE PERIOD OUTSIDE OF A FEW
SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS ON TUESDAY. MOST ACTIVITY IS
EXPECTED TO REMAIN AWAY FROM THE MAJOR AIRPORTS SO WILL NOT
MENTION ANY PRECIP AT THIS TIME. OTHERWISE...HOT AND DRY WITH
LIGHT SOUTHERLY FLOW CONTINUING.

.UPDATE...
MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE THAT IS THE REMNANT OF AN OLD GULF OF MEXICO
TUTT LOW LATE LAST WEEK IS CURRENTLY STILL SPINNING OVER THE
NORTHERN TX PANHANDLE THIS EVENING PER SATELLITE IMAGERY. NIGHTFALL
IS NEARLY UPON US AND ANY ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER FAR SOUTHERN AND
WESTERN COUNTIES HAVE DISSIPATED. WE HAVE REMOVED MENTION OF
ISOLATED SHOWERS OVERNIGHT. SOUTH-SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 20 MPH WILL
CONTINUE TO DIMINISH AFTER SUNSET AND LIKELY FALL TO OR BELOW 10 MPH
OVERNIGHT UNDER MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES.
TEMPERATURES HOWEVER WILL REMAIN VERY WARM WITH LOWS IN THE 70S...TO
LOWER 80S IN IMMEDIATE URBAN AREAS WHERE A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN
EFFECT FOR TARRANT/DALLAS COUNTIES THROUGH 9 PM WEDNESDAY EVENING.
HEAT INDICES WILL BE GREATER THAN 105 DEGREES OVER PARTS OF NORTH TX
TOMORROW BUT OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL FALL BELOW THE 78 DEGREE CRITERIA.
WE DO EXPECT A STRONG POSSIBILITY OF THE HEAT ADVISORY EXPANDING
OVER SEVERAL SURROUNDING COUNTIES IN OUR CWA...AS DEEP SOUTHERLY
FLOW THROUGH 500 MB RESULTS IN LESS MIXING OF MOIST DEW POINTS.
MEANWHILE...UPPER HIGH TO OUR WILL EXPAND BACK WEST THROUGH THE END
OF THE WEEK RESULTING IN A CONTINUATION OF THE HOT WEATHER.

AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW CONTINUES TO MOVE NORTH THROUGH THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE...ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE
DEVELOPED FROM YOUNG COUNTY TOWARDS LUBBOCK AND AMARILLO. IN
ADDITION...A FEW VERY LIGHT SHOWERS ARE ALSO DEVELOPING ACROSS THE
SOUTHEASTERN COUNTIES OF NORTH TEXAS. EXPECT ISOLATED CONVECTIVE
ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING HOURS.
THE UPPER LEVEL LOW IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE ADVANCING INTO
OKLAHOMA TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AS THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE BUILDS BACK
IN FROM THE EAST. THE REMNANTS OF THIS LOW WILL CONTINUE RIDING
AROUND THE NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THE RIDGE AND THEN SLIDE SOUTH
INTO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BASIN BY THE END OF THE WEEK. THE
LATEST RUN OF THE GFS NEARLY DISSOLVES THE REMNANTS OVER THE
SOUTHEASTERN CONUS AND HOLDS THE RIDGE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THE GFS THEN SLIDES THE RIDGE
TO THE NORTHWEST NEXT WEEK AND BRINGS A FEW OTHER WEAK
DISTURBANCES ACROSS THE REGION. THE CANADIAN MODEL IS ADVERTISING
A SIMILAR PATTERN. HOWEVER...THE ECMWF CONTINUES TO BRING THE
REMNANTS OF THE LOW BACK ACROSS NORTH TEXAS /ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF
THE RIDGE/ THIS WEEKEND. THEN IT ALSO SLIDES THE RIDGE TO THE
NORTHWEST NEXT WEEK. THE DIFFERENCES IN THESE SCENARIOS COULD
RESULT IN VARIOUS RAIN CHANCES FOR NORTH TEXAS...BUT OVERALL THE
RAIN CHANCES REMAIN LOW.
FOR POPS THIS WEEK...REMOVED THE MENTION OF ISOLATED THUNDER FROM
THE EAST FOR TOMORROW AS THE RIDGE BUILDS BACK IN AND KEPT
ISOLATED THUNDER OVER THE EAST ON WEDNESDAY. HOWEVER...KEPT 20
POPS ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION THIS WEEKEND AND INTO NEXT
WEEK...BUT THIS WILL LIKELY NEED TO BE ADJUSTED AS THE MODELS
CONTINUE TO ADJUST OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
WITH THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE BUILDING BACK OVER THE REGION BEGINNING
TOMORROW...TEMPERATURES WILL INCREASE SLIGHTLY. A HEAT ADVISORY
IS BEING ISSUED FOR DALLAS AND TARRANT COUNTIES AT THIS TIME FOR
TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THE REST OF NORTH TEXAS WILL ALSO BE
HOT DURING THIS TIME PERIOD...BUT EITHER OVERNIGHT LOWS ARE
FORECAST TO BE BELOW ADVISORY CRITERIA OR LOWER HEAT INDEX VALUES
ARE FORECAST IN THE AFTERNOON DUE TO LOWER DEWPOINT MIXING IN THE
REMAINING COUNTIES. HOWEVER...ADDITIONAL HEAT ADVISORIES FOR
LARGER AREAS OF NORTH TEXAS MAY BE REQUIRED LATER THIS WEEK.
