A fire burned more than 3000 acres of dry brush about 2.5 miles northeast of Waikoloa Village in the South Kohala District on the Big Island of Hawaii. The blaze threatened no structures as it burned Friday and Saturday, 27 and 28 July. The fire began at approximately 1:45 PM on the 27th, though the cause was unknown. There were no reports of serious property damage or injuries.

WEATHER FEATURE IN OUR AREA AS IT KEEPS AIR MASS UNSTABLE...
RESULTING IN AN ENHANCEMENT OF THE TRADE SHOWERS. RAINFALL REPORTS
SINCE MORNING SHOWED A FEW SELECTED SPOTS ON WINDWARD OAHU AND BIG
ISLAND WITH NEAR QUARTER OF AN INCH OF RAIN. LATEST SATELLITE
IMAGERY REVEALS BATCHES OF MOISTURE OVER KAUAI CHANNEL...AND JUST
EAST OF MOLOKAI AND MAUI. EXPECT THESE TO AFFECT THE NORTHERN
ISLANDS IN THE COMING HOURS INTO THE AFTERNOON.  THIS LOW IS STILL
EXPECTED TO LINGER IN OUR AREA THROUGH SUNDAY...THEN LIFTS NORTH
AWAY FROM OUR REGION. AS LONG AS THIS LOW IS IN OUR VICINITY...WE
SHOULD SEE ENHANCED TRADE SHOWERS AT TIMES. HIGH PRESSURE FAR NORTH
CONTINUES TO BRING MODERATE TRADE WINDS TO OUR REGION FOR THE NEXT
