WITH AN INCREASE TO 14G20KT BEHIND THE FRONT. EXPECT WINDS 10-15 KTS

RECORD HIGHS WERE REACHED AGAIN TODAY AT DFW AND ACT. FIRES CAN BE
SEEN ON VISIBLE SATELLITE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS. THE RED FLAG WARNING
CONTINUES UNTIL 8 PM. STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS AHEAD OF NEXT FRONT
ON FRIDAY WILL PROVIDE NEXT BEST CHANCES FOR FIRE DANGER.

UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH THE FRONTAL PASSAGE ON FRIDAY...THE GFS
WANTS TO BRING THE FRONT THROUGH SLOWER AND WETTER WHILE THE NAM
IS FASTER AND DRIER. HAVE TENDED TOWARDS THE GFS AS FAR AS
TIMING BUT HAVE LEFT LOW POPS IN DUE TO LACK OF MOISTURE. IF ANY
RAIN IS SQUEEZED OUT IT WILL BE IN THE FAR EASTERN AND
SOUTHEASTERN COUNTIES.

WINDS WILL VEER BACK TO THE SOUTH ON SUNDAY AHEAD OF NEXT
APPROACHING FRONT AND TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL INCREASE
WIND SPEEDS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE WARM AGAIN ON SUNDAY AND THE FRONT
WILL ONCE AGAIN BE DRY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL PROVIDE ANOTHER
POTENTIAL FIRE DANGER ON SUNDAY.

ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE ON
MONDAY AND TUESDAY. TEMPERATURES APPEAR TO REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL AND
PRECIPITATION BELOW NORMAL IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.  82

A RED FLAG WARNING AND WIND ADVISORY WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR MUCH
OF NORTH TEXAS THROUGH SUNSET.

CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE AFTER DARK OR BY LATE EVENING...AS
SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 25 MPH THIS EVENING...BECOME
NORTHWEST AND DIMINISH TO BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MPH OVERNIGHT. THE COOLER
AIR OVERNIGHT WILL ALSO RESULT IN A RISE OF HUMIDITIES ABOVE CRITICAL
LEVELS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...
GUSTY SOUTH TO WEST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED AGAIN
ON FRIDAY AND ON SUNDAY...AS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS DEEPEN OFF THE
LEE OF THE ROCKIES...BEFORE MOVING OUT OVER THE PLAINS ONCE
AGAIN. WITH THE ONGOING...SEVERE DROUGHT CONTINUING...AN INCREASED
FIRE DANGER ONCE AGAIN WILL BE EXPECTED ON THESE DAYS.

Two other grass fires burned 80 acres near Arlington Municipal Airport in Arlington, Tarrant County. Several mobile homes were destroyed, as well as five permanent homes on Mitchell Parkway. Numerous grass fires were started across north Texas due to low humidities, strong winds, and the ongoing drought. A grass fire burned 6,000 acres in Callisburg, Cooke County when high winds caused electrical lines to touch and spark. One woman was killed when she fell and broke her hip fighting the fire. Firefighters were unable to reach her in time. In addition, four permanent homes and two mobile homes were destroyed. Ten barns were destroyed and two were damaged. Two other grass fires burned eighty acres near Arlington Municipal Airport in Tarrant County. Several mobile homes were destroyed, as well as five permanent homes on Mitchell Parkway. Fires also burned several acres in Colleyville, Tarrant County, where one home was destroyed. A large fire in Granbury, Hood County, burned several acres and destroyed 30 homes. A number of livestock were also killed in the fire. A total of ten firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion from these fires.
