SUNNY AND WARM CONDITIONS OVER NORTH TEXAS WILL CONTINUE INTO
MONDAY...BUT EXCESSIVE HEAT MAY NOT RETURN THIS WEEK. EXPECT A
GRADUAL INCREASE IN MOISTURE THROUGHOUT THE VERTICAL TO TEMPER
EXTREMELY HOT TEMPS BEGINNING TUESDAY...WITH MORE CLOUDS AS WINDS
VEER FROM THE EAST TO THE SOUTH. THIS WILL KEEP OVERNIGHT LOWS UP
BUT DAYTIME HIGHS SHOULD NOT SEE A LARGE DIURNAL SWING.

By the end of August, a large area of east and north Texas was considered to be in severe drought (D2) or worse as classified by the U.S. Drought Monitor. However...some areas that were considered to be in severe drought or worse last month had recovered somewhat. For example, the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, which was considered to be in extreme drought (D3) last month, actually received more rainfall than normal for August, and improved a category to severe drought (D2). According to the Drought Impact Reporter, there were 37 counties in north Texas with outdoor burn bans. The drought continued into September.
