The episode as NWS AFC wrote it up.

A very unstable atmosphere resulted in unusually severe thunderstorms over the south central region of Alaska from the central Kenai Peninsula north into the central Susitna Valley. Wild land Firefighters on the Fox Creek fire near Skilak lake reported Hail measured at 0.75 inches from the thunderstorms that went through the area they were in. The radar and satellite information available for the other storms was similar or exceeded the intensity indicated for the Skilak Lake storm. This led to the conclusion that all these storms were very likely producing hail of 0.75 inches or greater.
