.DISCUSSION...
THIS AFTERNOON ALMOST ALL OF THE CONVECTION WAS OCCURRING ACROSS
THE WESTERN HALF OF THE CWFA...AS SUBSIDENCE FROM TROPICAL STORM
IVAN SUPPRESSED CONVECTION EAST OF SAN ANTONIO. THIS ACTIVITY WILL
DIMINISH TONIGHT WITH THE LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING. THE CURRENT
TRACK OF IVAN PLACES IT OVER LEE COUNTY BY SATURDAY MORNING. THE
BRUNT OF THE CONVECTION WILL OCCUR EAST OF THE CENTER AS IT MOVES
INTO THE CWFA. THIS WILL RESULT IN THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL
ACROSS THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST COUNTIES BEGINNING FRIDAY NIGHT AND
CONTINUING INTO SUNDAY MORNING. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MAY BE REQUIRED
FOR THESE AREAS THIS WEEKEND. MAIN STEM FLOODING MAY ALSO OCCUR THIS
WEEKEND ON THE LOWER REACHES OF THE SAN ANTONIO AND GUADALUPE RIVERS
AS WELL AS THE LAVACA/NAVIDAD RIVERS. WEAKENING TROPICAL SYSTEMS OVER
SOUTH TEXAS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING SIGNIFICANT FLOODING.

RAIN CHANCES WILL CONTINUE INTO MONDAY AS RESIDUAL TROPICAL MOISTURE
REMAINS ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS. A COLD FRONT WILL FINALLY MOVE THRU THE
CWFA MONDAY NIGHT/TUESDAY BRINGING AN END TO PCPN CHANCES.

WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER THE WEEKEND WILL DEPEND GREATLY ON THE TRACK
AND STRENGTH WHAT WILL BE THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM IVAN AS
THEY MOVE INTO SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS. AT THIS TIME...FLASH
FLOODING AND RIVER FLOODING APPEAR TO BE A THREAT MAINLY FOR THE
SOUTHEAST COUNTIES OF THE REGION INCLUDING THE LAVACA-NAVIDAD RIVER
SYSTEM.

Coordinates: 29.356, -99.110 (the zone’s center; the record gives no point)

Thunderstorms produced rainfall over most of Medina County in the late afternoon, with the western part of the county receiving between 1 and 2 inches. The heaviest amount, between 3 and 4 inches, fell in a triangular area from where FM1796 crosses the Uvalde County line to where US90 touches the Uvalde County line to Hondo. Flash flooding closed sections of FM1796 and FM2200 briefly during the evening.
