200 PM PDT MON AUG 4 2003

70KT JET AHEAD OF UPPER LOW JUST OFF THE NRN CA COAST WILL NOSE INTO
NRN NV TONIGHT. THIS ALONG WITH GOOD SPEED/DIRECTIONAL SHEAR AND
LIFTED INDICES AROUND -3 TO -4 WILL PRODUCE SOME STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NRN NV. SOME OF THESE STORMS WILL PROBABLY GO
SEVERE. EAST CENTRAL NV ON FRINGE OF MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY SO
WILL ONLY GO WITH ISOLATED STORMS THERE. ETA HANGS ON TO SOME
INSTABILITY ACROSS THE FAR NORTH TUE WHILE THE GFS IS STABLE. SINCE
WE ALREADY HAVE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE CURRENT
FORECAST WILL LEAVE IN DUE TO DIFFERENCES IN MODELS. BY WEDNESDAY
ALL AREAS WILL BE DRY AND STABLE. GRADIENTS TIGHTENING ON TUESDAY
BETWEEN UPPER LOW TO THE NW AND UPPER HIGH OVER THE SOUTHWEST. THIS
WILL BRING BREEZY CONDITIONS THROUGH FRIDAY. OVER THE WEEKEND
SOUTHWEST HIGH WILL BEGIN TO EXPAND NORTHWARD FOR LESSENING
GRADIENTS OVER THE GREAT BASIN. ALSO GFS SHOWING SOME MOISTURE
MOVING UP INTO ERN NV. FOR NOW WILL JUST INTRODUCE PARTLY CLOUDY
OVER THE FAR EAST.

STRONGER STORMS MAY BE SEVERE AS HAIL...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...HEAVY
RAIN...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING WILL ACCOMPANY THESE STORMS.
