SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX
325 PM CDT TUE SEP 10 2002

ISOLATED SHOWERS THAT HAVE DEVELOPED THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE CWFA
WILL DISSIPATE AFTER SUNSET. DRIER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE REGION
OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS LIMITING PCPN TO ISOLATED SHOWERS FOR THE
SOUTHEAST COUNTIES. THE REMNANTS OF FAY IS CENTERED IN MEXICO AND
WILL CONTINUE TO DRIFT SOUTHWARD AND WEAKEN.

THE LATEST MSAS ANALYSIS PLACES A WEAK SFC LOW IN THE NORTHWEST
GULF...EAST SOUTHEAST OF BROWNSVILLE. THIS IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH
FAY. THE ETA AND AVN/MRF ARE INDICATING THAT THIS LOW MAY
EVENTUALLY DEVELOP INTO ANOTHER TROPICAL SYSTEM. IF THIS
OCCURS...IT WILL LIKELY STAY FAR ENOUGH SOUTH AND EAST TO KEEP HEAVY
RAINFALL AWAY FROM SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS AND THE HILL COUNTRY.

THE AVN/MRF ALSO DEPICT A COLD FRONT SWEEPING THROUGH THE CWFA IN
THE SUNDAY/MONDAY TIME FRAME. THIS WOULD BE OUR FIRST COLD FRONT
FOR THE SEASON. ON AVERAGE...SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS SEES ITS FIRST
COLD FRONT DURING THE SECOND OR THIRD WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. HAVE
MENTIONED PCPN FOR BOTH SUNDAY AND MONDAY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE
FROPA.

PREFER THE COOLER AVN DAYTIME TEMPS...HIGHS 85 TO 90 FOR THE RAIN
SOAKED AREAS. LOWER 90S LOOK GOOD FOR EDWARDS...KINNEY...VAL VERDE
AND MAVERICK COUNTIES WHERE THE SOIL MOISTURE CONDITIONS ARE MUCH
DRIER.
