NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA

WILL UPDATE FORECAST TO INCLUDE TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 60 IN EFFECT
UNTIL 11 PM.

.PREVIOUS DISCUSSION...
THE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL STEADILY INCREASE
AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT DUE INTO THE AREA TONIGHT. A STRONG
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WITH GOOD UPPER AIR SUPPORT HAS MOVED INTO
CENTRAL TEXAS CAUSING GOOD PVA AND HIGH OMEGAS IN OUR CWA. THE ETA
IS A LITTLE SLOWER THEN THE AVN BRINGING IT IN OUR AREA BY EASTER
MORNING...HOWEVER IT ALSO HAS A STALLED SURFACE LOW OVER NORTH
LOUISIANA ON SUNDAY WHICH IS HARD TO BELIEVE. WILL STICK WITH THE
AVN MODEL AT THIS TIME WHICH SHOWS IT THROUGH LCH SHORTLY AFTER
MIDNIGHT. THIS COULD CAUSE A GOOD CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT WITH A POSSIBILITY OF A FEW BEING SEVERE.
SOME LINGERING MOISTURE AND SLIGHTLY COOLER AIR WILL BE IN THE WAKE
OF THIS COLD FRONT SUNDAY MORNING. A DRY NORTHWEST FLOW AT 500 MB
WILL CAUSE A DRY AND STABLE AIRMASS BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. A COOLER
AND MORE STABLE AIRMASS IS IN STORE FOR THE AREA THE BEGINNING OF
NEXT WEEK.

MARINE...BOY035 SHOWED A SOUTH WIND AT 15 KNOTS WITH 4 FOOT SEAS.
AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPS OVER CENTRAL TEXAS WINDS WILL
CONTINUE TO BE MODERATE TONIGHT. WINDS WILL SHIFT FROM THE
NORTHWEST TONIGHT IN THE WAKE OF A STRONG COLD FRONT WHICH COULD
PROMPT A SCA LATE TONIGHT.

LONG TERM...ANOTHER COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA BY
WEDNESDAY CAUSING A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS ONCE AGAIN. AS HIGH PRESSURE
MOVES OVER THE AREA THE LATTER PART OF NEXT WEEK EXPECT BELOW NORMAL
TEMPERATURES.

.LCH...SCEC ATCHAFALAYA RIVER TO HIGH ISLAND GMZ450-455-470-475.
