AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR WESTERN SD AND NORTHEASTERN WY...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RAPID CITY SD 830 PM MDT SUN AUG 25 2002 WEAK WAVE SPARKING OFF MARGINALLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE CWA THIS EVENING. LOW LEVEL JET IS ANTICIPATED TO INCREASE LATER THIS EVENING ADVECTING IN LOWER TROPOSPHERIC MOISTURE INTO THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE CWA...AND KEEPING THE ATMOSPHERE QUITE UNSTABLE AND KEEPING THE POSSIBLITY OF THUNDER IN THAT AREA. STORMS CURRENTLY OVER NW SOUTH DAKOTA ARE ANTICIPATED TO CONTINUE MOVING TO THE EAST ALONG A MODERATE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY...WITH SOME SEVERE POSSIBLE AS THEY START TO TAP GREATER SURFACE MOISTURE TO THE EAST.
