UPPER AIR ANALYSIS REVEALING PRIMARILY ZONAL WEST TO EAST FLOW ACROSS
THE CONUS. HEIGHT FALLS ENCOMPASSING THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AHEAD OF
APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH CENTERED OFF THE COAST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA.

LATEST SURFACE ANALYSIS FEATURING FRONTAL BOUNDARY FROM SOUTHERN
KANSAS INTO CENTRAL MISSOURI. HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE AXIS -- EXTENDING
FROM EASTERN MINNESOTA INTO SOUTHEAST SD -- USHERING EASTERLY LOW
LEVEL FLOW INTO NEBRASKA.

PRIMARY CONCERN FOR THIS FORECAST PACKAGE WILL BE DAY-TO-DAY RAIN
CHANCES INTO THE MIDDLE AND LATTER PART OF THE WEEK.

AS SFC FRONTAL BOUNDARY RETURNS NORTHWARD THROUGH KANSAS TONIGHT...
LOW LEVEL JET AXIS SETS UP THROUGH THE WESTERN SECTIONS OF NEBRASKA
AND KANSAS OVERNIGHT. CWA MAY HAVE TWO POSSIBILITIES FOR RAIN LATE
TONIGHT -- FIRST WOULD BE EASTWARD PROPAGATION OF ANY HIGH PLAINS
UPSLOPE ACTIVITY -- SECOND POSSIBILITY WOULD BE OVERNIGHT
DEVELOPMENT IN ROBUST WAA/THETA-E INFLUX REGIME NORTH OF THE SFC
FRONT. IN SPITE OF THE QPF SPARSENESS OF BOTH THE 12Z OPERATIONAL ETA
AND ETA KAIN-FRITSCH...GIVEN DEGREE OF WAA ASSOCIATED ISENTROPIC
UPGLIDE IN 310K-315K LAYER AND MOISTURE TRANSPORT...WILL MAINTAIN
RAIN CHANCES NEAR GOING FORECAST.

THERE IS AN ASSOCIATED THREAT FOR A FEW SEVERE STORMS TONIGHT GIVEN
ETA PROGGED 3000 J/KG ELEVATED MUCAPE AND AMPLE EFFECTIVE SHEAR
THROUGH CLOUD BEARING LAYER.

BROAD UPPER TROUGH GRADUALLY MOVES INTO THE WESTERN CONUS OVER THE
NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...WITH CORRESPONDING SOUTHWEST FLOW REGIME
DEVELOPING ALOFT. MAIN BAROCLINIC ZONE GRADUALLY SETS UP ALONG THE
SD/NEB BORDER INTO WEDNESDAY...WITH GRADUAL SFC LOW/LEE TROUGH
DEVELOPMENT AND SUBSEQUENT EASTWARD ADVANCEMENT THROUGH THE CWA OVER
THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

STATUS QUO IN THE OUTER PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST -- GENERALLY DRY
PATTERN AND SEASONABLE TEMPS.
