AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY

FIRST FCST CHALLENGE IS NEAR TERM ONE...WITH NW FLOW VORT MAX DIVING
SE ACROSS THE FA TONIGHT. MODELS INCREASE 1000-500MB RH
CONSIDERABLY...BUT A CLOSER INSPECTION OF TIME/HEIGHT CROSS SECTIONS
REVEALS MOST OF THIS INCREASE IS IN THE 700-500MB LAYER. NUMERICAL
GUIDANCE PICKS UP ON THIS AND IS NOT VERY AGGRESSIVE WITH CLOUDS AT
ALL...SO WL MAINTAIN GOING FCST OF PC OR BECOMING PC...GIVEN THAT
THE EARLY EVENING WL LIKELY BE MOCLEAR.

AFOREMENTIONED VORT RACES SE TUE. WL CONTINUE ESTABLISHED TREND AND
KEEP AN AVERAGE DAYTIME PC SKY GOING...THOUGH CERTAINLY FOR A TIME
EARLY THERE MAY BE MORE CLOUDS...AND THEN FEWER CLOUDS IN THE PM.

PRIMARY FCST CHALLENGE IS SHAPING UP TO BE TUE N-WED SYSTEM. AVN IS
SLOWING ITS MRH INCREASE BUT FOR THE MOST PART AVN/ETA AGREE ON
INTRODUCING A LATE TUE N POP. SOME ARGUMENT AMONGST MODELS OVR
WHETHER ATMOS WL BE DESTABILIZED ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THUNDER BY 12Z WED
OVR FAR ERN PTNS...BUT PREFER NOT TO SLICE OFF CORNER OF FA FOR A 48
HR CALL ON SOMETHING THE MODELS HAVE NOT BEEN CONSISTENT ON.
LIKEWISE ITS ALREADY IN THE GOING PACKAGE AND EVIDENCE IS NOT
STRONG ENOUGH FOR REMOVAL.

WED COULD BE SVR DAY AND NEW DAY3 HAS MUCH OF PAH FA IN SLGT RISK.
CERTAINLY MODELS AGREE ON DESTABILIZATION...INDICATING PRE FRONTAL
AIR MASS DESTABLIZED TO 35-40 KS AND TO -4 SHOWALTERS. DRY MRH
PUNCH AFT THE INITIAL WARM SECTOR PASSAGE SHOULD SUFFICIENTLY
INCREASE LOW LAYER MOISTURE...AS OPPOSED TO TONIGHTS WAVE. AND
AFOREMENTIONED DRY PUNCH MAY ALLOW PM SUNSHINE TO DESTABILIZE LOW
LAYERS...WITH GOING LIS OF -4 TO -8 BY 00Z THU AS FRONT SWEEPS
THRU.

CONCEDE THAT FRONT COULD LINGER INTO EARLY WED NIGHT FAR SE BUT FOR
NOW WL GO AHEAD AND SWEEP IT THRU BY 00Z THU...AS MODELS AGAIN RAPIDLY
CLEAR POST FRONTAL ENVIRONMENT. NEXT PCPN CHC COMES INTO
WEEKEND...AND AS PREVIOUS DISCUSSION MENTIONED...NEW RUNS CONT
MOVING THAT CHC UP IN TIME SO WL TAKE NEXT STEP AND INTRODUCE FRI
CHC RWS. WL LAY OFF THUNDER FOR NOW AS SHOWALTERS ONLY MARGINAL EVEN
AT 12Z SAT. AND FOR SIMILAR REASON WL DROP OUT PCPN FOR SUN AS FROPA
IS PROGGED FOR SAT NOW.

NEAR TERM TEMPS ARE SHOWING A WARMING TREND ALL MODELS SO WL MAKE A
FEW ADJUSTMENTS THERE. EXTENDED GUIDANCE IS FAIRLY CLOSE AND WL
GENERALLY BE FOLLOWED...BUT MAY LEAN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER A TAD
BASED ON TIMING OF FEATURES.
