AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN
255 PM EST MON MAY 13 2002
FORECAST FOCUS THIS AFTERNOON IS ON CHANCES FOR RAIN TONIGHT AS WELL
AS SKY COVER/TEMPS FOR TUE.
AT 19Z COLD FRONT WAS WELL EAST OF THE FORECAST AREA (FA). CLOUDS
COVERED MUCH OF THE OH VALLEY WITH SOME CLEARING ACROSS IL/MO.
CLOUDS HAD ALSO TAKEN ON CELLUAR LOOK TO THE W.
FOR THE MOST PART MODELS AGREE. WILL USE A BLEND IN THE SHORT TERM.
AVN IS FASTER THAN ETA WITH BRINGING IN RAIN AT 60 HOURS. WILL GO
WITH SLOWER ETA FOR NOW SINCE AVN HAS A TENDENCY TO OVERDO EXPANSE
OF LIGHT QPF.
CLOUDS WILL PROBABLY DECREASE SOME ACROSS THE WRN FA THIS
EVENING...BUT CLOUDS AHEAD OF APPROACHING VORT MAX WILL BE IN BY
LATE THIS EVENING. THEREFORE WILL SIMPLY GO MOSTLY CLOUDY TONIGHT.
VORT MAX WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY A JET STREAK WHICH IMPACT AREAS
MAINLY N OF THE FA. SINCE THESE FEATURES WILL ARRIVE AFTER DARK THE
ATMS WILL BE MORE STABLE AND THUS CHANCES FOR SHRA WILL BE LESS.
WILL THEREFORE CUT POPS TO SLIGHT CHANCE FOR ENTIRE FA.
FWC/MAV/ETAMOS ALL CLOSE AND REASONABLE SO WILL USE.
ON TUESDAY...BEST INSTABILITY WILL BE ACROSS OH. FEEL THAT ANY SHRA
THAT DO DEVELOP WILL BE EAST OF FA. HOWEVER ENOUGH MOISTURE AND
INSTABILITY FOR MOCLOUDY SKIES NERN FA TAPERING TO MOSUNNY SWRN FA.
ETAMOS TEMPS TOO WARM GIVEN CLOUD COVER AND NORTHWEST FLOW. WILL
COMPROMISE BETWEEN THE COOLER MAV AND THE IN-BETWEEN FWC.
DRY WX WILL CONTINUE TUE NIGHT THROUGH WED NIGHT. MOS VALUES LOOK OK
TUE NIGHT BUT WILL TEMPER THE WARMER FWC/ETAMOS VALUES ON WED WITH
THE COOLER MAV.
