Heavy rain produced flash flooding across the area. In Madison County, the Godfrey and Bethalto area had roads closed due to flooding. Highways 111 and 67 were reported to have water at least waist deep in places. Numerous basements were also flooded in the Bethalto area. Several county roads in Fayette County were damaged by floodwater. In Montgomery County, Highway 16 was closed in areas east of Irving. In Macoupin County, the water had dropped some after early morning rain, however additional rain during the afternoon produced flooding again. Some roads in rural areas were washed away. Highway 4 north of Carlinville was closed due to high water.
