.SHORT TERM...RATHER ACTIVE EVENING FOR THUNDERSTORMS AHEAD. ID
UPPER LOW OPENING UP AND MOVING EAST. WIND SHEAR REMAINS WEAK
TONIGHT...BUT THE AIR MASS HAS WARMED NICELY OVER WESTERN MT AND
TROUGH WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL COOLING ALOFT TO HELP UPDRAFTS. MAIN
PROBLEMS WILL BE HEAVY RAIN DUE TO WEAK STORM MOTION AND POSSIBILITY
OF HAIL IN STRONGER PULSING CELLS. ACTIVITY OVER NORTHWEST MT
CURRENTLY SHOWING VERY LITTLE MOVEMENT AND MAY BECOME SIGNIFICANT IF
STORMS DEVELOP NEAR LAST YEARS MOOSE FIRE. GOES TPW VALUES IN THIS
AREA RUNNING >0.75 INCH. CYCLONIC PART OF TROUGH REMAINS OVER THE CWA
OVERNIGHT AND COULD SEE NOCTURNAL STORMS LINGERING THROUGH 12Z.
EXPECT VERY LITTLE BREAK BETWEEN SYSTEMS AS THE NEXT TROUGH ENTERS
THE PAC NORTHWEST FRIDAY. SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT AND RESIDUAL LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE WILL HELP MORE CONVECTION DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON. AVN
SHOWS THIS TROUGH AXIS VERY SLOW TO MOVE ACROSS WESTERN MT THROUGH
SATURDAY AND IS PREFERRED SOLUTION. WILL CONTINUE WITH ISOLATED TO
SCATTERED ACTIVITY BUT SHIFT THINGS TOWARD THE DIVIDE SATURDAY
AFTERNOON/EVENING. PATTERN CHANGE IS POSSIBLE LATER IN THE WEEKEND AS
A STRONG NORTHWEST JET PUSHES ACROSS SOUTHWEST CANADA AND A COLD
FRONT ENTERS MT BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. EXPECT SOME MOISTURE TO BRING
SHOWERS TO NORTHWEST MT WITH INCREASED CLOUDS ELSEWHERE. BOLDT

.LONG TERM...MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING LOOK TO BE DRY IN A WEST
TO NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. TUESDAY AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH BEGINS TO DIG
IN OFF THE WEST COAST AND AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT/JET CLIPS THE
WESTERN IDAHO ZONES AND NORTHWEST MONTANA FOR A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
SHOWERS INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY THE TROUGH
CONTINUES TO DIG IN PLACING THE AREA IN A SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT FOR
A SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON/EVENING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
TEMPERATURES WILL RISE SLIGHTLY TUESDAY WITH SOME WEAK SHORTWAVE
RIDGING THEN COOL SLIGHTLY ON WEDNESDAY. THURSDAY TEMPS LOOK TO FALL
OFF AROUND 5 DEGREES AS THE AREA COMES MORE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF
