AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL
225 PM CDT WED JUL 3 2002

WEAK ELONGATED H5 TROUGH ACROSS FLORIDA INTO NORTHEAST GULF FORECAST
TO SPLIT INTO 2 CIRCULATIONS...STRONGER ONE MOVING NORTHEAST ACROSS
ATLANTIC AND WEAKER H5 CIRCULATION RETROGRADING ACROSS NORTHERN
GULF. REFLECTED SURFACE LOW MOVES ACROSS FORECAST AREA FROM THE
NORTHEAST LATE WEEK OVER THE WEEKEND...SLOWLY INCREASING THE
PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES AS DEEPER EASTERLIES RETURN TO FORECAST
AREA. DAYTIME GUIDANCE POPS ARE 50 TO 60 PERCENT THROUGH THE SHORT
TERM AND THIS LOOKS REASONABLE GIVEN DEPTH OF MOISTURE AND AMOUNT OF
INSTABILITY AROUND. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON INTO EARLY
EVENING...EXPECT SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO DRIFT
SOUTHEAST.

EXTENDED...LITTLE CHANGE...WITH UPPER LOW AND WEAK SURFACE LOW
DRIFTING WEST...EXPECT A CONTINUATION OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE EXTENDED.

MARINE...HIGH PRESSURE OVER AREA WILL RESULT IN VARIABLE FLOW OVER
MARINE ZONES INTO FRIDAY...WITH NEAR SHORE AREAS SEEING GULF BREEZE
WINDS EACH DAY. SURFACE TROUGH WILL DEVELOP OVER SOUTHEASTERN CONUS
FRIDAY...WITH SOUTHERLY FLOW BECOMING ESTABLISHED INTO MONDAY...WITH
FLOW BECOMING VARIABLE THEREAFTER AS HIGH PRESSURE BECOME
RE-ESTABLISHED.

FIRE...NO PROBLEMS INTO FRIDAY NOTED. AM CONCERNED WITH DRYER AIR
THREATENING TO FILTER INTO NORTHEASTERN SECTIONS OF FA THIS
WEEKEND...AND WHETHER IT WILL MAKE IT INTO FL ZONES. DOESNT LOOK SO
AT THIS TIME...THOUGH WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT. 11/16
