TXZ172-173-190>194-208-209-220450- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 1050 PM CDT THU JUN 21 2001 A LINE OF SHOWERS AND STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS PUSHING SLOWLY SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE NORTHEAST SECTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS AND THE HILL COUNTRY. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE LOCATED JUST EAST OF TAYLOR MOVING SOUTHEAST AT NEAR 25 MPH TOWARD FEDOR AND DIME BOX. THIS LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDS WESTWARD TOWARD AUSTIN AND FREDERICKSBURG...AND IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING GUSTY WINDS OF 35 TO 45 MPH...BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THE STRONGEST STORMS WILL REMAIN EAST OF I35 FROM AUSTIN TO SAN ANTONIO WHERE THE GREATEST MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY EXISTS. THIS LINE OF STORMS IS BEING MONITORED FOR STRENGTHENING. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...MOVE INDOORS. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY...AVOID USING TELEPHONES AND ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED.
