AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
314 PM EDT THU JUL 19 2001

UPPER AIR PATTERN SHOWS TROF ALONG THE EAST COAST WITH A RIDGE OVER
THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. OUR AREA IS EXPERIENCING A NORTHERLY FLOW
ALOFT BETWEEN THE TROF AND RIDGE. THIS PATTERN IS FCST TO PERSIST
THROUGH THE NEXT TWO DAYS...THOUGH OUR AREA WILL HAVE SLIGHT H5
HEIGHT FALLS AS THE EASTERN TROF AMPLIFIES A BIT.

SFC MAP SHOWS PERSISTENT HIGH TO THE EAST AND WEAK LOW TO THE
WEST...WITH A SOUTHERLY FLOW OF VERY MOIST AIR FEEDING INTO THE OHIO
VALLEY. A WEAK BOUNDARY IS LOCATED NEAR DAYTON...WITH LOW 70S DEW
POINTS ACROSS SOUTHERN OHIO AND NORTHERN KENTUCKY. MODELS FCST THE
BOUNDARY TO DROP SLOWLY SOUTH OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS IN
RESPONSE TO AMPLIFYING EAST COAST TROF. DEW POINTS ARE PROGGED TO
DROP OFF SLIGHTLY INTO THE 60S AS THE FRONT MOVES SOUTH AND DRIER
AIR ADVECTS IN FROM THE EAST.

CURRENT RADAR SHOWS SCT SHRA IN OUR NORTHERN COUNTIES MOVING SLOWLY
SOUTH IN UPPER FLOW. I'LL NEED EVENING PERIOD TO COVER THIS
LEFTOVER ACTIVITY. WITH THE ACTIVITY BEING DRIVEN BY SOLAR
HEATING...THE REST OF TONIGHT SHOULD BE PARTLY CLOUDY.

THOUGH MAJOR FORCING WILL BE LACKING...WITH INSTABILITY STAYING
RATHER HIGH AND SOME PVA OCCURRING...I'LL KEEP CHC TSRA FOR FRIDAY
AND INTRODUCE CHC TSRA INTO SATURDAY'S FCST. MOST OF THE FCST PERIOD
SHOULD FEATURE PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AS LACK OF FORCING SHOULD PREVENT
WIDESPREAD ORGANIZED TSRA.

FWC TEMPS LOOK DECENT SO I'LL STAY CLOSE. HIGHS IN MID TO UPPER 80S
LOOK REASONABLE IN THIS PERSISTENT AIRMASS. LOWS IN UPPER 60S ALSO
LOOK GOOD...THOUGH IT MAY DROP A FEW DEGREES COOLER IN OUR EASTERN
COUNTIES DEPENDING UPON HOW MUCH DRY AIR ADVECTS IN.

.ILN...NONE.
