SYNOPSIS...LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST OVER
THE WEEKEND...BRINGING COOLER TEMPERATURES AND WINDY CONDITIONS.
ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL REMAIN OFF THE WEST COAST THROUGH
MOST OF NEXT WEEK.

SHORT TERM...FUNDAMENTAL LONG WAVE PATTERN SHIFT COMING UP THIS
WEEKEND AS A LARGE TROUGH DIGS OFF THE WEST COAST. WATER VAPOR
SATELLITE IMAGERY CLEARLY SHOWS HUGE GULF OF ALASKA DEPRESSION
SETTLING SOUTHEASTWARD. WHILE THIS PARTICULAR SYSTEM LIFTS INTO THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST...IT HELPS TO CARVE OUT A LONG WAVE TROUGH OVER
THE EASTERN PACIFIC AND WESTERN UNITED STATES. THE SHORT TERM STARTS
OUT WITH A DRAMATIC COOLING TREND AS H7 TEMPS FALL FROM THE
INCREDIBLE +17C PROGGED FOR TODAY TO A MUCH COOLER +11C BY SUNDAY.
THE WEEKEND WILL ALSO BE BREEZY TO WINDY AS THE GRADIENTS TIGHTEN
AND FLOW ALOFT INCREASES. H7 FLOW INCREASES FROM 15 KNOTS TODAY TO
25 KNOTS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. H5 FLOW INCREASES FROM 20 KNOTS TODAY
TO 45 KNOTS SATURDAY AND 50 KNOTS SUNDAY. WITH OUR TENDENCY LATELY
TO MIX UP TO 500 MB IN THE AFTERNOON...WINDY CONDITIONS ARE A
VIRTUAL SHOE-IN.

LONG TERM...AFTER THE LONG WAVE TROUGH SETS UP OFF THE WEST COAST...
IT WILL PERIODICALLY EJECT SHORT WAVES NORTHEASTWARD. THESE WILL
RESULT IN OUR FIRST REAL CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION IN QUITE SOME TIME.
STILL...WOULD BE MORE OPTOMISTIC IF THE FLOW WAS FROM A DIRECTION
OTHER THAN SOUTHWEST WHERE WE SUFFER A FEARSOME RAIN SHADOW CAST BY
THE SIERRA NEVADA RANGE. PRS
