AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY
210 PM CDT THU JUN 7 2001

AT 18Z...WEAK COLD FRONT/SURFACE BOUNDARY EXTENDED FROM HENDERSON KY
TO ABOUT KCGI. RADAR SHOWED A NARROW LINE OF SHOWERS ALONG THE
BOUNDARY. THE BOUNDARY AND ASSOCIATED SHOWERS WERE SAGGING SLOWLY
SOUTH AT JUST 5 TO 10 KT. EXTRAPOLATION PLACES THE FRONT NEAR A POF
TO PAH LINE AT 22Z. RUC INDICATES THE FRONT SHOULD FINALLY CLEAR THE
KENTUCKY BORDER AROUND 03Z. EXPECT THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP ALONG
THE FRONT LATE THIS AFTERNOON AS CAPES INCREASE WITH DAYTIME
HEATING. AFTER THE FRONT CLEARS THE FORECAST AREA EARLY
TONIGHT...PRECIP THREAT SHOULD BE OVER AT LEAST THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY APPEARS DRY AND A LITTLE LESS HUMID AS WEAK HIGH PRESSURE
BUILDS SOUTHEAST TOWARD THE OHIO VALLEY. THE PUSH BEHIND THE FRONT
IS QUITE WEAK...AND MODELS SHOW PRACTICALLY NO DIFFERENCE IN 925 MB
TEMPS BETWEEN 00Z TODAY AND 00Z SATURDAY. THEREFORE...WILL FOLLOW
MOS GUIDANCE IN KEEPING HIGHS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN.
WITH SURFACE DEW POINTS SLOWLY FALLING...OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL BE
COOLER.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD DIRECTLY OVER THE FORECAST AREA SATURDAY.
DESPITE POSSIBILITY OF EMBEDDED UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES IN THE
NORTHWEST FLOW...WILL KEEP FORECAST DRY DUE TO RELATIVELY DRY AND
STABLE AIR MASS.

EXTENDED FORECAST... MRF INDICATES THE NORTHWEST UPPER LEVEL FLOW
PATTERN WILL CONTINUE INTO NEXT WEEK. LOW LEVEL SOUTHWEST RETURN
FLOW WILL DEVELOP ON SUNDAY...RAISING TEMPS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL
AND INCREASING SURFACE DEW POINTS. A WEAK BACKDOOR COLD FRONT WILL
APPROACH THE FORECAST AREA MONDAY...THEN RETURN NORTHEAST AS A WARM
FRONRT TUESDAY. 12Z AVN INDICATES THIS FRONT WILL NOT REACH FAR SW
INDIANA...BUT MCS ACTIVITY ALONG THE FRONT COULD TRACK SOUTHEAST
ACROSS PARTS OF THE FORECAST AREA.

.PAH...NONE.
