AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY 340 AM EDT THU JUN 7 2001 06Z SFC ANALYSIS SHOW THE WAVY FRONTAL BOUNDARY RIGHT ALONG THE OHIO RIVER WHILE ANOTHER LOW IS DROPPING THROUGH THE CENTRAL PLAINS. THE LOW FROM FORMER TROPICAL STORM ALLISON IS LOCATED OVER SOUTHEAST TEXAS. THE RADAR HAS QUIETED DOWN FROM LAST EVENING/S ACTIVITY WITH JUST A FEW STRAY SHOWERS MOVING ALONG INTERSTATE 64 AND ALSO INTO THE CUMBERLAND VALLEY TO THE SOUTH. SATELLITE SHOWS A MASS OF MULTI-LAYERED CLOUDS THROUGH EAST KENTUCKY WITH RELATIVELY WARM TOPS. THE MODELS REMAIN IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH THE GRADUAL PATTERN CHANGE THAT REPLACES THE ZONAL WESTERLIES WITH A MORE AMPLIFIED RIDGE TROUGH SCENARIO. THE RIDGE WILL DEVELOP OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WHILE THE TROUGH COVERS THE NORTHEAST. THIS WHOLE PATTERN THEN SLOWLY SHIFTS EAST BRING THE RIDGE CLOSER TO KENTUCKY AS THE NEW WEEK BEGINS. IN THE MEANTIME...WE WILL GO FROM FLAT ZONAL FLOW TO FAST NORTHWEST FLOW. ALTHOUGH THEIR ARE PLENTY OF MINOR SHORTWAVES SET TO MOVE THROUGH OVER THE WEEKEND...THEY ALL WILL BE MOISTURE STARVED.
