AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY 945 PM EDT FRI AUG 10 2001 01Z SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS A WASHED OUT COLD FRONT JUST NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER. EARLIER MCS AND ITS COLD POOL HAVE WORKED OVER THIS BOUNDARY. RADAR SHOWS MOST OF THE SHOWERS ARE NOW RAINING THEMSELVES OUT WITH JUST ISOLATED STORMS IN THE SOUTHEAST. SATELLITE FEATURES WARMING CLOUD TOPS OVER THIS COLD POOL AS ACTIVITY STARTS TO WIND DOWN. FLOODING CONTINUES OVER SEVERAL OF OUR NORTHWEST COUNTIES. THE SITUATION WILL BE IMPROVING THERE THE REST OF THE NIGHT AS THE ACCUMULATING RAINS HAVE COME TO AN END. THE FRONT SHOULD ALSO BE A NON FACTOR AS THE ATMOSPHERE ADJUSTS TO THE EARLIER STORMS. WILL CONTINUE CHANCE POPS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST ZONES WHERE THE ATMOSPHERE HASN/T BEEN AS WORKED OVER. TO THE NORTHWEST WILL RUN CATEGORICAL SHOWERS ENDING FOR THE EVENING THEN LEAVE A SMALL POP FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT...ALSO MENTIONING FOG.
