The public reported dime to quarter size hail along the extreme northern border of Jackson county from near Gillsville in Hall county southeast to Commerce. There was one report that the hail lasted for 10 minutes.
The Rome News Tribune reported that a man was struck by lightning and injured. This information was confirmed by the Floyd county 911 center at the time of the event. The man was sitting in a wooden swing on the front porch at his residence. The lightning struck a nearby tree a few feet from the porch and then arced over to the roof of the house. The man sustained burns to his legs, but was not injured seriously.
The Rome county 911 center reported that numerous trees were blown down.
Several reports of dime to quarter size hail were received from the public across the northern part of Floyd county, including Armuchee, Shannon, and Rome. One person reported that hail covered the ground about 5 miles northeast of Rome.
The Banks county 911 center reported quarter size hail.
The Rome News Tribune, as well as the public, reported that several trees were blown down in the Rome area. Trees were down on a gas meter on Thomas Road, and other trees were down on Wayside Road, Sunny Heights Drive, Boulder Road, and Harris Road.
The public reported quarter to golf ball size hail from Adairsville, to the Kingston and Halls area, to Cartersville. In one report, hail was said to be covering the ground in the Kingston and Halls area.
The Daily Tribune News of Cartersville reported that some trees and limbs were knocked down at various locations throughout the county. The majority of the damage was observed in the Hall Station/Barnsley Gardens area. The Rome News Tribune reported that a few power lines were blown down across the county.
The public reported dime size hail at Pennville.
Numerous reports of hail ranging in size from dime to baseball were received from the public and the Cherokee county 911 center. This information was later confirmed in an extensive report issued by the Cherokee County Emergency Management Director. Most of the hail fell in the western and northern half of the county and affected the cities of Holly Springs, Waleska, Ball Ground, and Canton. The largest hail fell in a swath across the northern portions of the county from Waleska to Ball Ground, from which numerous reports of golf ball to baseball size hail were received. At Waleska, golf ball to baseball size hail was said to have been 1 1/2 feet deep during the height of the storm. Extensive damage to the roofs of homes and business, as well as vehicles, was reported.

The public reported that power lines were down in Ball Ground. The Cherokee Tribune of Canton reported that winds blew down power lines and snapped off some trees, mainly in the Ball Ground area. Winds were estimated at 65 to 70 mph.
A storm spotter reported half-dollar size hail in Cedartown.
A storm spotter reported that limbs were blown down on North College Street in Cedartown. Wind gusts were estimated at 60 mph.

Over a dozen reports of large hail were received across mainly the central sections of Forsyth county, especially along Georgia Highway 20 and Georgia Highway 369, including the cities of Ducktown, Matt, Cumming, Coal Mountain, and Oscarville. There were several reports of golf ball to baseball size in the Cumming and Oscarville areas, with baseball size hail said to be covering the ground at Oscarville. There were also a couple of reports of tree limbs being broken by strong wind. No estimates of damage to homes, business, or vehicles were available.
Numerous reports were received from the public of half-dollar, golf ball, and baseball size hail. In addition, there were several reports of wall clouds and rotating wall clouds from Lake Lanier to Gainesville. While damage to roofs and vehicles likely occurred, damage estimates were not provided.
An amateur radio operator reported that a tin roof was blown off a barn and several trees were uprooted.
The Times Herald newspaper of Newnan reported that lightning struck a home on Beverly Park Court. The lightning set the home on fire. Moderate damage was sustained to the roof and to some inside ceilings.
