AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
140 PM EDT WED MAY 30 2001
SURFACE PRESSURE HAS REMAINED ABOUT THE SAME OVER THE AREA SINCE
TUESDAY ALTHOUGH THE RIDGE LINE APPEARS TO HAVE SHIFTED SOUTH. THIS
WAS ABOUT AS MODELED. COMMUNICATIONS PROBLEMS LEFT US WITH OUR
SHARE OF MISSING RAOBS THIS MORNING. HOWEVER GOES SOUNDER DOES SHOW
DRIER AIR TO OUR EAST AND THIS SEEMS TO WANT TO MOVE OVER OUR
ZONES. SO SINCE THE NGM HAS BEEN HANDLING THIS THE BEST WILL KEEP
THE PROBABILITIES DOWN THROUGH TOMORROW THEN BRING THEM BACK UP ON
FRIDAY AS THE FRONT TO OUR NORTH SHOULD BRING THE DEEP MOISTURE OVER
THE ENTIRE PENINSULA. TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN ABOUT THE SAME.
THE MARINE WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN GOOD BOATING THROUGH THE PERIOD
WITH NO REAL WIND PROBLEMS UNTIL EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH THE
POSSIBILITY OF A STRONGER HIGH IN THE ATLANTIC AND STRONGER EASTERLY
WINDS.
THE EXTENDED PICTURE HAS CHANGED A LITTLE FROM WHAT HAD BEEN
EXPECTED EARLIER. WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE SURFACE RIDGE TO SHIFT
WELL TO THE NORTH AND BUILD. THIS WOULD HAVE PUT US INTO THE NIGHT
AND MORNING ACTIVITY ALONG THE EASTERN ZONES AND AFTERNOON EVENING
INLAND. HOWEVER NOW THE UPPER RIDGE IS MODELED TO REMAIN EAST OF
US...SO WITH THIS BASIC REVERSAL SINCE YESTERDAYS MODEL RUNS WE CAN
NO LONGER HAVE THE SAME CONFIDENCE. THEREFORE WILL NOT TRY TO MAKE
A DISTINCTION IN THE SHOWER TIMING IN THE EXTEND|ED. ALSO LOWER
MAXIMUMS AND HIGHER MINIMUMS ALONG THE EASTERN ZONES ARE LESS LIKELY.
