AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL
810 PM EST MON MAR 19 2001

CURRENT TLH 88-D SHOWS AREAS OF RAIN OVER MUCH OF THE CWA...WITH
EMBEDDED SHOWERS OVER SOUTHWEST GEORGIA. AREAL COVERAGE AND
INTENSITY SEEM TO HAVE DECREASED OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS...
HOWEVER...WITH LITTLE OR NO CHANGE IN BASIC SYNOPTIC SETUP OVER THE
PAST FEW HOURS...WOULD EXPECT RAINY CONDITIONS TO CONTINUE THROUGH
MOST OF THE NIGHT. THE SURFACE LOW IN THE EAST-CENTRAL GULF IS
PUSHING NORTHWARD...WHILE THE UPPER LOW OVER THE AR/LA BORDER LOOKS
LIKE IT HAS ABOUT BOTTOMED OUT BEFORE STARTING TO MOVE MOSTLY TO THE
EAST. SO WE MAY START TO SEE SOME IMPROVEMENT EARLY TOMORROW. ALL
SHORT RANGE MODELS SHOW SIGNIFICANT DRY-SLOTTING SOUTH OF THE
SURFACE LOW OVER OUR CWA BY MID-DAY TUESDAY...SO I WONDER IF OUR
POPS MAY STILL BE TOO HIGH TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT. CATEGORICAL
LOOKS OK FOR TONIGHT. DHN MAY BE A PROBLEM CHILD WITH REGARD TO THE
MIN TEMP FORECAST. THEY AND ABY ARE IN THE COLDEST AIR BEHIND A COLD
FRONT WHICH BISECTS OUR CWA. MIGHT HAVE TO ADJUST MIN TEMPS ON
UPDATE.

MARINE: OFFSHORE BUOYS ARE SHOWING SCA CONDITIONS CONTINUE WELL
OFFSHORE. NO CHANGES PLANNED THERE.

FIRE WX: NO REQUIREMENTS AS FUELS WILL BE WET.
