AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL 210 PM EDT MON JUN 18 2001 THE UPPER WEAK CIRCULATION OVER THE BAHAMAS APPEARS TO BE DISSIPATING SO SHOULD NOT IMPACT US. BASICALLY THERE ARE NOT REAL DEFINED UPPER AIR FEATURES TO AFFECT US THROUGH MID WEEK. THE SURFACE RIDGE IS RESTABLISHING ITSELF TO OUR NORTH AND SHOULD NOT CHANGE MUCH THROUGH THE SHORT TERM PERIOD. WE ARE DEFINITELY BACK IN THE LOW LEVEL EASTERLY FLOW AND WILL KEEP THIS WEATHER PATTERN. THERE IS A TROPICAL WAVE EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES THIS MORNING THAT SHOULD MAKE IT TO US BY LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT/THURSDAY MORNING. SO WILL INCREASE THE EAST COAST PROBABILITIES THAT DAY. OTHERWISE WILL USE THE 88D COVERAGES FOR PROBABILITIES WHICH HAVE BEEN LOW EVERYWHERE AT NIGHT. THE MARINE ZONES SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL THE APPROACH OF THE WAVE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT/THURSDAY. THE MODELS WANT TO WEAKEN THE RIDGE SOME BY THAT TIME...HOWEVER WILL BASICALLY STILL COUNT ON THE WIND BEING A LITTLE STRONGER WITH THE WAVE. IN THE EXTENDED THE SURFACE RIDGE IS EXPECTED TO WEAKEN SOME BY THE WEEKEND HOWEVER THIS DEPENDS ON THE UPPER TROUGH DEEPENING OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO. NOT CONVINCED THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN BASED ON PAST MODEL PERFORMANCE. HOWEVER WILL LEAVE THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING PATTERN IN THE EXTENDED UNTIL IT APPEARS THE UPPER TROUGH WILL NOT DEVELOP.
