EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
245 PM EDT WED JUN 13 2001

STRONG LOW LEVEL SW FLOW IS OVERPOWERING DEVELOPMENT OF A DEFINED
WEST COAST BREEZE BOUNDARY. SW-NE CLOUD STREETS COMBINED WITH LAKE
BREEZE BOUNDARIES HAS BEGUN TO DRIVE SCATTERED CONVECTION OVER THE
INTERIOR PENINSULA SOUTH OF LAL AND ISM. EAST COAST SEA BREEZE HAS
DEVELOPED SOUTH OF THE CAPE AND WILL STRENGTHEN AND PROGRESS SLOWLY
INLAND...BUT WILL REMAIN OVER THE COASTAL COUNTIES. INTERACTION
BETWEEN EAST-MOVING CONVECTION AND ATLANTIC BREEZE BOUNDARY SHOULD
FOCUS GREATEST COVERAGE/INTENSITY NEAR COAST THROUGH EARLY EVENING.

LARGE SCALE PATTERN CHANGES LITTLE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. WITH
BUILDING ANTICYCLONE NORTH OF EX TC ALLISON...CURRENTLY OVER
SC...SYSTEM WILL LIKELY BECOME QUASI-STATIONARY NEAR THE CAROLINA
COAST. THIS IN TURN WILL ANCHOR THE LOW LEVEL RIDGE AXIS SOUTH OF
LAKE OKEECHOBEE...MAINTAINING OFFSHORE FLOW ACROSS CWA. FLOW WILL
HOWEVER WEAKEN AND GRADUALLY VEER TO W...THEN NW...AT STEERING
LEVELS BY LATE FRIDAY. WITH LIGHTER LOW LEVEL FLOW...ATLANTIC SEA
BREEZE LIKELY ENTIRE CWA...ALONG WITH BETTER DEFINED GULF BOUNDARY.
PERSISTENCE OF SUFFICIENT MOISTURE WILL SUSTAIN CLIMO/SCATTERED
DIURNAL POPS NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...WITH GREATEST COVERAGE EASTERN SIDE
OF PENINSULA. TEMPS WILL BE NEAR OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE CLIMO.

EXTENDED...PATTERN REMAINS UNCHANGED TIL POSSIBLY SUNDAY WHEN MID
LEVEL TROUGH PROGRESS ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES AND REINFORCES SURFACE
TROUGH/FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH TC ALLISON OVER SE STATES. THIS
WEAKENING TROUGH MAY REACH NORTH/CENTRAL FLORIDA BY LATE IN THE
WEEKEND...AND COULD ENHANCE DEEP LAYER MOISTURE AND CONVERGENCE.
WILL LEAVE EXTENDED FORECAST UNCHANGED UNTIL EFFECTS FROM FEATURE
BECOME MORE EVIDENT.

MARINE...LIGHT OFFSHORE FLOW WITH AFTERNOON SEA BREEZES THROUGH
REMAINDER OF WEEK. SCATTERED CONVECTION WILL MOVE OFFSHORE INTO
NEARSHORE WATERS DAILY. DEVELOPMENT OF STRONGER ATLANTIC BREEZE
BOUNDARY LATER IN THE WEEK MAY HELP SLOW OFFSHORE SPREAD OF
STORMS...LEADING TO LONGER DURATION OF STORMS OVER PORTIONS OF
INTRACOASTAL WATERWAYS AND IMMEDIATE NEAR-SHORE WATERS.
